About Melissa & Seventh
Something I love about being an independent designer is how closely I get to work with each and every client. I’ve always been a sucker for a good love story, so it’s fitting that I get to hear them as part of my job! Hearing couples stories makes me feel connected to them and the work that they commission me to create. It just feels right to share the story of Melissa and Seventh with all of you in hopes that it brings us all a little closer together.
If you have been a fan of my work for a while, you know that Melissa and Seventh didn’t grow over night as it was previously called Melissa Hubans Design. Through all of the twists and turns, the one thing that has remained constant is my love for hidden meaning. I’m honored to be trusted by so many with projects that are dear to their hearts. Whether it be a wedding day that they will remember forever or a business that they have put so much time into. Being able to create a keepsake that has a story behind it that they can tell for years to come is a treasure. So, it should be no surprise that the name Melissa and Seventh is way more than just a name. When choosing it, I thought about how it didn’t feel right to me to pour my heart into a business with a name that didn’t have a meaning behind it. So what’s with the seventh? The number seven has been a reoccurring theme in both my life and my husbands (admittedly more so in his than mine) but none the less, appearing in meaningful ways throughout our lives. It may seem silly that a number can be of such importance, and believe me it wasn’t just one of our “lucky” numbers from high school. Many times it wasn’t even noticed until after the fact and in a way, that’s what makes it special. Almost as if it’s a sign from above that we are on the right path. For starters, both of our birthdays have a “7” in the date and both of our names have 7 letters. When Garrett was born, he weighed 7 pounds, 7 ounces and was born at 3:31. Crazy, huh? The meaning of the number 7 became truly apparent in his life on the date of his heart surgery, which was February 7th. This surgery is the reason he’s still healthy and alive today. Fast forward to our wedding day; we were married on October 6th. And maybe we are looking too far into it, but what do ya know, 10/06 adds up to “7”. You all get the point and I won’t bore you with the many other small ways that it has been present in our lives. I’m not superstitious and I don’t know what all of these “7”s mean, but I do know that it feels meaningful to us. So there you have it! The story behind the name. I’d love to get to know you and hear your story. |
